“Do well, do good”: The Dussmann Group donates education boxes

28.03.2018 — Dr. Wolfgang Häfele, Dussmann Group executive board spokesman presented four education boxes to refugee facilities.

They have left areas of conflict, hope for a safer life in this country and dream of a career and earning their own income. More than 65,000 unaccompanied minor refugees are currently living in Germany. The Dussmann Group wants to make a contribution to their integration and has donated 40 boxes of educational materials to refugee facilities across Germany. The shelves-on-wheels made of environmentally friendly recyclable materials are packed with exciting media; to read, to learn to entertain. They include textbooks, dictionaries and school materials but also cookbooks, board games and smartphone accessories.

In Southern Germany, a local football club has teamed up with the refugee facility. “Sport is just as important to the young refugees as education. We are very happy to promote the work here” commented Dr. Wolfgang Häfele, Dussmann Group executive board spokesman during his visit to a refugee facility in the region.

Education as an opportunity
Language skills and knowledge are the keys to the world, to new friendships and to integration in a new country. This is the philosophy behind the Dussmann Group donations. And the company’s efforts to help the refugees living in Germany to find their feet in the working world does not stop here; in 2015, it initiated an internal campaign to promote the recruitment of refugees in several sections of the company.
